The QuarkImmedia™ 1.05 Updater Internet download package contains the Updater you will need to update version 1.04 of QuarkImmedia to 1.05. To use the QuarkImmedia 1.05 Updater, your version of QuarkXPress™ or QuarkXPress Passport™ must be at least 3.32r5.  Updaters to QuarkXPress and QuarkXPress Passport are available on the Quark Web site.

If you have a large number of scripts in a QuarkImmedia 1.05 project, do not open the project with QuarkImmedia 1.02. Doing so may result in an alert message regarding missing or corrupt scripts. Also, the speed in engaging a project with the QuarkImmedia Design Tool and opening an exported project using QuarkImmedia Viewer has been improved considerably.

  68. Downloading the QuarkImmedia 1.05 Updater Files

  70. To download the QuarkImmedia 1.05 Updater files:

  72. 1. Locate the QuarkImmedia 1.05 Updater link on the Quark Web site at www.quark.com.

  74. 2. Click the desired QuarkImmedia Updater to download the files onto your desktop. If your version of QuarkImmedia is at 1.04, select the link for the 1.04 to 1.05 Updater. If your version of QuarkImmedia is earlier than 1.04, select the Updater corresponding to your version from the Web site at www.quark.com.

  77. Updating QuarkImmedia

  79. To update QuarkImmedia:

  81. 1. Close applications and disable virus protection software before you launch the Updater. Any active program could interfere with the updating process.

  83. 2. Double-click the QuarkImmedia Updater icon downloaded from the Quark Web site to your desktop. A dialog box will display reminding you to disable any virus protection software before starting the process.

  85. 3. Click OK. A dialog box displays that lets you determine which items to update. By default all items are checked.  (Uncheck items you do not want to update; however, we strongly suggest you update all the items.) These items include:

  87. - QuarkImmedia XT
  88. - QuarkImmedia Data
  89. - QuarkImmedia Viewer

  91. 4. Click OK after selecting the items you want to update. A directory dialog box displays that asks you to locate your copy of the QuarkImmedia XT file.

  93. 5. Locate and select your copy of the QuarkImmedia XT file; then click Open to begin the updating process. The Updater displays the status of the updating process.  After the QuarkImmedia Design Tool has been updated, the message “QuarkImmedia XT has been updated successfully” is displayed.

  95. 6. Click OK. A directory dialog box displays that asks you to locate your copy of the QuarkImmedia Data file.

  97. 7. Locate and select your copy of the QuarkImmedia Data file; then click Open to begin the updating process.The Updater displays the status of the updating process.  After the QuarkImmedia Data file has been updated, the message “QuarkImmedia Data has been updated successfully” is displayed.

  99. 8. Click OK. A directory dialog box displays that asks you to locate your copy of QuarkImmedia Viewer.

  101. 9. Locate and select your copy of QuarkImmedia Viewer; then click Open to begin the updating process. The Updater displays the status of the updating process. After QuarkImmedia Viewer has been updated, the message “QuarkImmedia Viewer has been updated successfully” is displayed.

  103. 10. Click OK to finish the updating process. When the updating process is complete, return your system to its normal configuration and restart the computer.

  106. Using QuarkImmedia

To run QuarkImmedia successfully after the updating process is complete, version 3.32r5 of QuarkXPress or QuarkXPress Passport must be installed on your computer. If the version you have installed is 3.3x but not 3.32r5, QuarkXPress 3.32r5 Updaters are available on the Quark Web site at www.quark.com.

  110. To use QuarkImmedia, open the folder containing your copy of QuarkXPress or QuarkXPress Passport, and double-click the QuarkXPress or QuarkXPress Passport application icon. QuarkImmedia will load automatically when you launch QuarkXPress or QuarkXPress Passport.
